Forward Thinking
A Case for Israel
In 1957, Russia’s successful Sputnik launch triggered a strong response from its American counterparts, indirectly sparking a global technological revolution. Soon thereafter, the burgeoning California technology sanctuary now known as Silicon Valley exploded into a frenzy of activity and industry. Where the entrepreneurs and engineers envisioned technology as a gateway into the future, the prudent and prescient investors of the time saw value in what it could enable. Over the decades, Silicon Valley has succeeded in A) producing some of the world’s largest organizations, B) bringing into the fold disruptive innovations that have proliferated across every facet of modern life, and C) offering outsized returns to investors that had, heretofore, never been imagined; however, it is important to remember that these leviathan corporations, too, began their respective journeys as humble startup companies in garages.
The Israeli technology ecospace, by comparison, is now experiencing a productive technology renaissance of its own, and worldwide investor appetite for Israeli tech companies has never been so voracious. The richest investor in Hong Kong, Li Ka Shing, has made 29 out of his 60 worldwide high-tech investments in Israel. Israeli tech companies, some of which are listed below, have extended their sphere of influence around the globe and touch across such sectors as SaaS, logistics optimization, information technology, artificial intelligence, augmented reality, cyber security, healthcare, improving diversified industrials, and oil & gas.
